        宝砚堂：海丰吴氏家藏万乘，故事颇多。其中,“坡里捡来黄土砚，雪堂怀古吊眉山。”即为吴氏家族珍藏的秘诀之一。说的是嘉庆二十二年丁丑，吴式芬二十二岁那年，在黄州为官的祖父吴之勷得苏东坡“雪堂宝砚”之事。吴之勷为此还撰写了《雪堂宝砚记》。以后又在故里——海丰（无棣）营造“宝砚堂”珍藏宝砚。室内设有文房四宝，吴氏翰墨会友、品茶清谈多在此堂。

      Hall of Precious Ink-Slab: The Wu clan had a great diversity of rarities. That’s why we can read many relevant anecdotes today. “Once he picked up an ink-slab, the scholar had been filled with nostalgia for Su Shi.” In the 22nd year of Jiaqing period when Wu Shifen turned 22, his grandfather Wu Zhixiang got Su Shi’s famous ink-slab at Huangzhou. The scholar not only wrote a record of the ink-slab, but even built this hall to enshrine the rarity. He usually unwound therein with cronies, chatting, drinking teas or using those four treasures of study.
