South Account House: It was first built in 1441, the 6th year of Zhengtong period of the Ming dynasty for Wang Zuo, Minister of Revenue. Unfortunately, Wang Zuo died for the country when he followed Emperor Yingzong in his expedition 8 years later. Then in 1664, the 3rd year of Kangxi period of the Qing dynasty, Wu Zisu bought this house and made it his family’s account house. The History of Ming Dynasty says, “Wang Zuo worked at the Ministry of Revenue quite long. He didn’t like great fame and behaved generously. Though there were numerous political affairs, he still made time for pursuing studies. Everyone says he’s a real gentleman.”
